Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez Slams Congressman Tom Tiffany for Enabling Government Shutdown

WISCONSIN—As the federal government entered a shutdown this morning, Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez released the following statement:

“Congressman Tom Tiffany has already voted to take Medicaid away from tens of thousands of Wisconsinites, and now he’s helping Donald Trump and Washington Republicans shut down the government, putting even more families at risk. Here’s what that means in real life: federal workers in our state will miss paychecks. Veterans will see delays in the care and benefits they’ve earned. Small businesses will get caught in the chaos. And hardworking families will face even more uncertainty at a time when costs are already too high.

Republicans control the House, Senate, and the White House – they could reopen the government at any moment. I urge Congress to get back to Washington now and fix this mess. As your governor, I won’t take a day off from fighting for you.

I’ve spent my career solving real problems in the ER, at the CDC, and across every corner of Wisconsin. Tom Tiffany has spent his career creating problems – gutting health care, driving up costs, and now siding with extremists to grind the government to a halt. Wisconsin deserves a governor who fights to make life easier for families, protects their health care, and puts people ahead of politics.”
